ボルチモア ジャパンアート フェスティバル Baltimore Japan Art Festival 4/5-7 2017

4月5日から7日まで開催される、ボルチモア ジャパンアート フェスティバルのお知らせです。

今年が初めてのこのフェスですが、地元ボルチモアの「ラブ • ニッポン！」な若者が中心となって運営しているイベントです。ボルチモア • 川崎姉妹都市委員会もその熱意に押されて、スポンサーになりました。ライブミュージック、インディー映画試写会、ギャラリオープニングとご家族向けの内容ではありませんが、アートやアンダーグランドサブカルチャーシーンへの、日本の影響力を見るのには、うってつけの内容となっております。

お盆 • 竹灯篭展 “Take To-Ro: Bridge of Lights” Special Obon Exhibit at JICC in Washington DC 8/8-19, 2016

“Take To-Ro: Bridge of Lights”, a large scale artwork created by a group of young artist in Baltimore and members of Baltimore Kawasaki Sister City Committee will be exhibited at The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan in Washington DC. The event is scheduled on August 8-19, 2016.

The JICC uses their unique gallery space, with award-winning Japanese-inspired design, to showcase both traditional and modern Japanese art. Open to the public, 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, these exhibitions bring Japan to you.

“Take To-Ro” originally made its appearance at the inaugural season of Light City Baltimore in March 2016. The artwork was well received by the audience and helped the event to attract more than 400,000 visitors to Inner Harbor Baltimore.

Please join us in celebrating completion of the natural bamboo sculpture, “Take To-Ro: Bridge of Light” at Light City Baltimore.


Reception and Ceremony

By invitation only. Please note the reception room will be closed at 6pm, and guest may not re-enter the premises after 6pm.

【 Ceremony：6pm−7pm】

  • Unveiling of “Take To-Ro” Shinto Ceremony: Rev. Kuniko Kanawa（6-6:20pm）
  • Peace Speech: Rev. David Ware（6:25-35pm）
  • Misako Ballet Performance（6:40-7pm）

The ceremony will take place in front of the Take To-Ro at Inner Harbor. You are welcome to bring your own chairs. We encourage you to enjoy the Light City Baltimore at the inner harbor after the ceremony, The event application is available at Apple and Googleplay for download. We have 2 activities (paper bag lantern making and Cherry Blossom Message card for Tsunami victims) starting at 7pm at our tent. Along with glow sticks giveaway.

レセプションの受付は終了いたしました。チケットをお持ちのお客様は、木曜日にイベントブライトからレセプションに関する詳しいメールが届きますので、ご参照ください。またレセプション会場は6時にて閉鎖となり、際入館はできませんのでご了承ください。

[竹灯籠展：光の橋 ]は在アメリカ合衆国 日本国大使館 後援の作品です。

式典は屋外、竹灯籠設置場所の前に集まって頂く形になります。椅子等はご用意してありませんが、個人でお持ちの方はセットアップしていただいて結構です。式典後は解散となります。インナーハーバー内で行われているイベントの詳しい情報入手には、フリーアプリのダウンロードをおすすめします。 Apple、Googleplayとも「Light City Baltimore」でご検索ください。

竹灯籠展テントでは「紙袋灯籠作り」と「東日本大震災を忘れない〜さくらの花びらメッセージ〜」のアクティビティーが7時より行われます。また蛍光スティックの無料配布も行われる予定です。

竹灯籠展は屋台「EKIBEN」のサポーターです。軽食には竹灯籠展のすぐ左手にある屋台「EKIBEN」をご利用になってはいがかでしょうか？

Baltimore Kawasaki Sister City Committee Presents Take To-Ro: Bridge of Lights Sculpture at Light City Baltimore

The Baltimore Kawasaki Sister City Committee will present Take To-Ro: Bridge of Lights, a multi-faceted community sculpture, utilizing bamboo and light emitting diodes (LED) based light sources for Light City Baltimore.

On March 28-April 3, 2016, the sculpture will be presented to the public near the Maryland Science Center during the festival.

Designed by local talent Jessica Searfino, this community sculpture will dramatically transform the Japanese stone lantern that was donated from Kawasaki, Japan, in the 80s. Dr. Shuji Nakamura, a Japanese-born American physicist and recipient of the 2014 Nobel Prize for Physics, supports this project. Other collaborators for this project are Michael Hart, Owner of Arking Desing;  Shane Atienza, Engineer; Jessica Searfino, Designer; and the Jemicy School and National Electronic Museum.

Exhibition Dates:
March 28- April 3, 2016, 7-11pm every night. Our exhibition is free.
